Jump Writing is an online writing center. Depending upon which membership you choose, your child can attend twice per week, or up to four times per week. The more your child attends, the more their writing will improve.
Jump Writing sessions are available Monday through Friday at 1pm, 4pm, 5pm, and 6pm Pacific and on Saturdays at 8 and 9am Pacific.
Just like learning to play an instrument or sport, it takes time to learn to write. The more time spent practicing, the better you become. We designed Jump Writing as a monthly membership in order to maximize the amount of time your child spends writing.
On its own, time spent writing is not enough to become a good writer. Instruction in the craft and mechanics of writing is essential. During each learning session, your child will work one-on-one with a coach through lessons that have been hand-picked for your child based on their current skill.
Perhaps the most important ingredient of becoming a great writer is feedback. Not only will Jump Writing coaches give feedback on your child’s writing, they also prioritize recognizing what your child has done well, and building them up with praise and positive feedback

ASSESSMENT
When you begin, your child’s writing will be assessed by a credentialed teacher, and based on the results, they will be given a curriculum that is appropriate for their current writing level.
ATTENDANCE
Learning sessions take place online with a writing coach and up to two other students. During the 50-minute session your child will receive one-on-one instruction, practice writing skills using a program called IXL, and work on a single piece of writing, their “writing portfolio.” Over the course of ~20 sessions, your child will write, revise, and finalize a single piece of portfolio writing. Along the way they will receive feedback and help from their writing coach.
REWARDS
At the end of each session, your child will earn points or “Jump Jewels” that can be collected, and over time, traded in for prizes. Parents are often surprised to see how motivating Jump Jewels are for their children, and how much their child looks forward to attending Jump in order to work with their coach and to earn more Jewels.
REVIEW
At the end of each portfolio, you will receive an update with information about their pre-assessment, post-assessment, a link to the portfolio piece, and recommendations for continued growth.
